Cleaning Products We Use

Below is a list of all the cleaning products we have in our arsenal, including the ingredients.  Note that all ingredients are safe and non-toxic.  See bottom of page for description of ingredients.

Creamy Soft Scrubber – baking soda and liquid soap.  Rinses clean with no gritty residue.  This paste will leave your bathtub and shower sparkling clean.

Window Cleaner (used on windows, mirrors, and faucets)-liquid soap, vinegar, and water.  This all-natural window and glass cleaner, when used with our microfibre towels, leaves your mirrors, windows, and faucets so clean and shiny they look new!

All-Purpose Spray Cleaner-washing soda, liquid soap, and water.  This cleaner is the best we’ve used, commercial or otherwise!  It breaks down grease and oil, cooked-on food stains, and hard-water stains.  Safe for use all over your home, this cleaner also leaves your surfaces sparkling clean.

Furniture Polish-olive oil and vinegar.  Our furniture polish both cleans and protects your wood finishes.

Air Freshener (if requested)-water and essential oils.  A light mist of water and essential oils into the rooms after we’ve cleaned leaves a light, fresh scent.  You get your choice from among several scents.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner-this is the only commercial cleaner used.  Brand used is President’s Choice GREEN Toilet Bowl Cleaner, and it is chlorine-free.  It has a light spearmint scent.  This will be used only for heavy-duty cleaning; otherwise, our All-Purpose Spray Cleaner will be used.

Microfibre Cloths-rather than using disposable paper products, we use washable microfibre cloths.  Not only are our cloths great for cleaning, but they are perfect for polishing your windows, mirrors, and all metal surfaces in your home.

DESCRIPTIONS OF INGREDIENTS

Baking Soda – sodium bicarbonate (we use PC Green Brand).  Sodium bicarbonate is a component of the mineral natron, but it is most commonly derived from sodium carbonate and carbon dioxide.   The ancient Egyptians used natron as a cleansing agent.  Baking soda, as many call it, is used as a leavening agent in baking, and has been used for tooth-whitening for many years. Baking soda is a natural  fungicide, disinfectant and is antiseptic.

TIP: baking soda can be mixed with water and used as a fruit or vegetable bath to remove pesticides naturally.

Liquid Soap – we use Dr Bronner’s Liquid Castille Soap.  Packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, Dr Bronner’s liquid soap is made from certified fair-trade and organic oils.  Completely biodegradable and vegetable-based, the soap is made from a combination of organic extra virgin coconut, olive, jojoba, and hemp oils.  It contains no synthetic foaming agents, thickeners, or preservatives.  This soap is so mild, it is used on newborn babies!

Vinegar – we use President’s Choice The Natural Vinegar, which is 5% acetic acid.  Vinegar results from the oxidation by acetic acid bacteria of ethanol in beer, wine, cider, fermented fruit juice, or any other liquid containing alcohol.  Vinegar has been used by many different cultures for thousands of years, notably in Eqypt and China.  There is evidence of its use found that shows it has been used in China since 2000 BC.  Vinegar is proven to kill 99% of bacteria, 82% of mold, and 80% of viruses.

Washing Soda – sodium carbonate – we use Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda.  It is 100% sodium carbonate, which is extracted from the ashes of plants.  It is used as a laundry detergent, household cleaning agent, and is effective in killing mold.
